SDV Medical and Office Systems Proudly Sponsors the Inaugural Biltmore Championship Asheville
SDV Medical and SDV Office Systems were proud to sponsor the inaugural Biltmore Championship Asheville, marking the return of PGA TOUR golf to Asheville for the first time in more than 80 years.
Set against the stunning backdrop of The Cliffs at Walnut Cove, the tournament showcased the beauty of Western North Carolina, with sweeping views of the Blue Ridge Mountains surrounding the course. It was an incredible setting for a historic week of golf, community, and celebration.
The week was made even more memorable by having our employees, partners, and guests join us in a private skybox overlooking the 18th green. From the opening rounds featuring 132 players to the final competition, each day brought a different level of excitement as the field narrowed and the championship took shape.
A Special Folds of Honor Friday
One of the most meaningful moments of the week came on Friday, when SDV Medical and SDV Office Systems served as the presenting sponsor of Folds of Honor Friday.
The morning began with a special military ceremony honoring those who have served and sacrificed for our country. Folds of Honor provides life-changing educational scholarships to the spouses and children of America's fallen or disabled military service members and first responders—a mission that aligns closely with SDV's commitment to serving the Veteran and military communities.
As the sun began to rise over the Blue Ridge Mountains, Adam Lee Decker, who regularly performs the National Anthem for the Carolina Hurricanes, delivered a moving rendition of "The Star-Spangled Banner." Hearing the words "by the dawn's early light" as the morning sun appeared over the mountains created a moment that was difficult to forget.
Golfers on the practice green and driving range stopped what they were doing. Those gathered nearby stood at attention as the award-winning West Henderson High School JROTC Color Guard presented the colors.
SDV CEO and retired U.S. Marine Corps Colonel Dan Whisnant then had the honor of serving as the tournament's honorary starter, announcing the first group of golfers as they began their round.
Supporting Our Veteran Community
Throughout Folds of Honor Friday, a dedicated Veterans resource area provided an opportunity for attendees to connect with organizations serving Veterans and their families. Representatives from Dogs Inc., along with service dogs, joined representatives from VFW North Carolina, Intuitive Surgical, and Veterans Healing Farm in supporting the day's activities.
We were also excited to hold a special giveaway featuring two commemorative PXG Stars & Stripes Hybrid Stand golf bags. Two lucky winners took home the limited-edition bags, with one winner also receiving a certificate for a custom set of PXG GEN8 irons.
The entire day was filled with excitement, patriotism, and a shared appreciation for those who have served our country.
A Championship to Remember
After an exciting week of competition, Jacob Bridgeman captured the inaugural Biltmore Championship title and was presented with a handcrafted trophy created locally by Marthaler Jewelers in the Fletcher area.
While the tournament delivered incredible golf, its impact extended far beyond the course.
Nearly two years after Hurricane Helene brought devastating destruction to Western North Carolina, the Biltmore Championship offered an opportunity to welcome visitors back to the Asheville area and showcase the strength, beauty, and resilience of our community.
For SDV Medical and SDV Office Systems, being part of this historic event was about much more than sponsorship. It was an opportunity to bring together our employees, partners, Veterans, and community while supporting organizations whose missions reflect our own commitment to service.
The inaugural Biltmore Championship Asheville was a resounding success, and we were honored to play a part in bringing PGA TOUR golf back to the mountains of Western North Carolina.
